Il 3 ottobre 2013 a Lampedusa centinaia di persone, uomini, donne, ragazzine\/i, bambini\/e, sono morte annegate a poche centinaia di metri dalle coste dell\u2019isola. A partire da quel momento tutte e tutti, in varie parti del mondo, abbiamo visto quale sia l\u2019effetto delle attuali politiche migratorie: un mare di morti. Poi, dopo il mare, i morti che si confondevano con i vivi, non solo con i sopravvissuti ma con gli stessi abitanti dell\u2019isola: dove mettere tutti quei corpi, tutti quei sacchi, tutte quelle bare? Dove metterle a Lampedusa? Come trasportarle poi? Dove metterle, una volta trasportate? In quali cimiteri? A partire da un mare di morti anche la terra si \u00e8 risvegliata pi\u00f9 stretta e priva di spazio, sommersa dai cadaveri nei sacchi allineati sul molo e dalle bare numerate nell\u2019hangar dell\u2019aeroporto, impreparata a trovare luoghi decenti per i sopravvissuti, incapace di gestire il terribile lavoro del riconoscimento, sovrastata dal dolore di familiari che si aggiravano sull\u2019isola di Lampedusa arrivando da posti diversi del mondo per dare un nome ai numeri sulle bare mentre le bare venivano fatte partire e tumulate in vari luoghi della Sicilia ancora numerate.<\/p>\n

Prima del 3 ottobre 2013 quel mare era gi\u00e0 un mare di morti, 20.000 corpi, dicono coloro che in questi anni si sono dedicati al loro \u201ccensimento\u201d, e anche la terra era gi\u00e0 stretta, i cimiteri erano gi\u00e0 pieni di bare tumulate senza identificazioni, i familiari si aggiravano gi\u00e0, ma nelle loro case e nel loro dolore senza sapere dove andare per cercare. Dopo il 3 ottobre 2013 il mare ha continuato a inghiottire vite, mentre sulla terra i sopravvissuti ai naufragi o alle traversate si aggirano tra i moli di una frontiera, a Calais, o tra i corridoi di una stazione di una frontiera improvvisata, a Milano, sperando di poter raggiungere i loro parenti, altri, gi\u00e0 arrivati in Germania chiedono di poter restare, e tutte e tutti scoprono tra coperte gettate sui pavimenti di moli, stazioni, strade, tra panini e bicchieri di plastica, tra Cie e identificazioni forzate, che su questo spazio di terra chiamato Europa non c\u2019\u00e8 posto per loro.<\/p>\n

Il 24 e il 25 ottobre nelle sale del palazzo di Bruxelles si svolger\u00e0 la riunione del Consiglio europeo che, tra gli altri punti all\u2019ordine del giorno, discuter\u00e0 \u201ccon urgenza\u201d, come dichiarano i vertici Ue, anche delle politiche migratorie dopo il naufragio del 3 ottobre. Quello che proporranno lo conosciamo gi\u00e0: questa volta lo chiamano \u201campliamento delle funzioni di Frontex nel Mediterraneo\u201d, \u201cavvio e sperimentazione di Eurosur\u201d, o, come in Italia, \u201cazione militare umanitaria\u201d, ma dietro ai nomi diversi non \u00e8 difficile decifrare il solito mare di morti con cui abbiamo convissuto in tutti questi anni e la terra gi\u00e0 stretta da quote, respingimenti e deportazioni su cui abbiamo abitato.<\/p>\n

Non vogliamo pi\u00f9 farlo e non lo faremo pi\u00f9. Per questo, il 24 e il 25 ottobre saremo, insieme ad altri, davanti alle ambasciate o ai consolati europei per contestare in vari modi la possibilit\u00e0 di quelle decisioni, e chiediamo di esserci e di fare altrettanto a tutte e tutti coloro che in varie parti d\u2019Europa e d\u2019Italia non accettano pi\u00f9 questa impossibile convivenza. Che si chiami Unione europea, Europa o in qualsiasi altro modo, vogliamo che il tratto di terra su cui abitiamo sia circondato da un mare di passaggio, di viaggi, di incontri, di vite, e che il suo suolo possa essere abitato e attraversato da tutte e tutti, senza bisogno di allestire tende, campi, rifugi \u201cumanitari-militari\u201d per donne, uomini, bambine e bambini bloccati tra le frontiere della sua disumanit\u00e0.<\/p>\n

Saremo insieme a molti altri. Ai rifugiati siriani bloccati a Calais<\/a> che vogliono arrivare in Inghilterra e a quelli bloccati alla stazione di Milano che vogliono raggiungere i loro parenti in Svezia o in Germania; ai rifugiati passati da Lampedusa che manifesteranno in varie citt\u00e0 della Germania<\/a>; ai famigliari degli eritrei morti nel naufragio del 3 ottobre che dimostreranno a Roma chiedendo al governo italiano la restituzione delle salme e all\u2019Europa \u201cuna politica pi\u00f9 attenta alla vita e dignit\u00e0 per i profughi in cerca di protezione\u201d; a coloro che manifesteranno davanti a consolati e ambasciate, come chiede di fare Melting Pot, portando l\u2019appello per un “corridoio umanitario”<\/a> che permetta ai richiedenti asilo di raggiungere uno degli stati membri dell\u2019Ue senza il bisogno di salire sulle \u201cbarche della morte\u201d; alle madri e alle famiglie dei migranti tunisini dispersi<\/a> che da due anni chiedono conto della vita dei loro figli alle politiche migratorie dell\u2019Unione europea.<\/p>\n

Noi saremo a Milano, davanti al consolato generale di Germania, in via Solferino 40 (MM 2, Moscova) dalle 10 alle 13 di venerd\u00ec 25 ottobre. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Saremo l\u00ec perch\u00e9 non vogliamo mari umanitari-militari, n\u00e9 terre-frontiere, ma una \u201cterra di tutte\/i\u201d. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Everybody\u2019s Earth. Military-Humanitarian Seas and Frontier Lands: Not in Our Name <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On 3October, 2013 hundreds of people, men, women, girls and boys, and children died on Lampedusa, drowning a few hundred meters away from the coasts of the island. At that moment, all of us in different parts of the world, have seen the effect of current migration policies: a sea of deaths. Then, after having been the sea and reaching the shore, the deaths started to get confused with those who were alive; not only with the survivors but also with the residents of the island: where to place all those bodies, all those body bags, all those coffins? How should they be moved in Lampedusa? Where shall they be placed? In which cemeteries? From this sea of died people, also the Earth woke up narrower, covered by corpses in body bags lined up on the dock, and covered by numbered coffins in the airport\u2019s hangar. This Earth was unprepared to find decent places for the survivors; incapable of managing the terrible operation of corpses\u2019 recognition; overwhelmed by the sorrow of the relatives who were going around Lampedusa, coming from different places of the world, to give a name to the numbers placed on the coffins, while the coffins were carried and buried in different places of Sicily and there numbered.<\/p>\n

Before the 3 October, 2013, that sea was already a sea of deaths, of 20.000 corpses – according to those who have been conducting this census in the past few years – and also the Earth was already narrow, the cemeteries were already full of coffins buried without identifications; relatives were already going around – in their homes and in their sorrow – without knowing where to actually go to look around. After October 3, 2013 the sea has continued to swallow died people; on Earth, on the other hand, survivors of shipwrecks and crossings were going around among the docks of a frontier, or in Calais, or around the corridors of a train station in Milan that was turned into an improvised frontier – they were hoping to join their relatives. Other people already arrived in Germany ask to stay. They all find out that there is no place for them in this Earth\u2019s place called Europe: they find out through blankets thrown on the ground of docks, stations, streets, and they find out through sandwiches and plastic cups, through identification and expulsion centers and through forced identification procedures.<\/p>\n

On October 24 and 25, a European Council meeting will take place in the rooms of Bruxelles\u2019 palace to \u201curgently\u201d address, as EU authorities declared, migration policies after the shipwreck of October 3, 2013, among other issues on the political agenda. We already know what they will propose: this time they call it \u201cenlargment of the functions of Frontex in the Mediterranean\u201d, \u201cstart up and experimentation of Eurosur\u201d, or, as they call it in Italy, \u201cmilitary humanitarian action\u201d. Behind these different names it\u2019s not difficult to decipher the usual sea of deaths with which we have been living all these years, the Earth narrowed by migration quota, push back and deportation policies, that Earth where we have been living.<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t want to do that anymore and we won\u2019t do it. For this reason, on October 24 we will be in front of European embassies and consulates to challenge in different ways the possibility of those decision. We ask to be there and to do the same to those who, in different parts of Europe and of Italy, do not accept anymore this impossible cohabitation people. Be it called European Union, Europe or any other way, we want the stretch of Earth where we live to be surrounded by a sea of passage, of journeys, of encounters, of lives, and we want its soil to be inhabited and crossed by everyone, without the set up of tents, camps, \u201cmilitary-humanitarian\u201d shelters for women, men and children who are blocked in-between the frontiers of its inhumanity,<\/p>\n

We will be together with many others. We will be with Syrian refugees who are blocked in Calais and who want to arrive in England as well as with those blocked at the train station in Milan and who want to join their relatives in Sweden or Germany; we will be with the refugees who went through Lampedusa and who will protest in various German cities; we will be with family members of Eritreans who died in the shipwreck of October 3 and who will have a demonstration in Rome to ask the Italian government for the corpses to be returned to them and to ask Europe for \u201ca politics more attentive to the life and dignity of refugees seeking protection\u201d; we will be with those who will march in front of consulates and embassies to demand, as Melting Pot asked, that a \u201chumanitarian corridor\u201d be established to allow asylum seekers to reach one of the European Union member states to file for asylum without having to get on the \u201cdeath\u2019s boats\u201d; we will be with the mothers and the families of missing Tunisian migrants who have been asking about their sons\u2019 lives to the European Union\u2019s migration policies. We will be in Milan, in front of the Germany General Consulate, in via Solferino 40 (MM 2, Moscova) from 10 am to 1pm on Friday, October 25. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

We will be there because we do not want humanitarian-military seas, nor frontier lands, but we want an Earth of everybody. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
